If you have any kind of lighting at your business premises, whether neon tubes, LED illumination, or for commercial signage, there are times when you are going to need replacements in a hurry.
These products last a long time so it won’t often be due to wear and tear, but the need for new lighting parts and accessories could be due to accidental damage or vandalism, or even an act of theft.
It must be said, however, that some cases of theft are rather bigger than others. It is not often that thieves will seek to relieve an entire airport runway of its ground lights.
However, that is exactly what has happened at Lagos Airport in Nigeria, causing the sort of disruption for passengers travelling to and from Africa’s biggest city that requires a rogue drone to achieve at a London airport.
The incident at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport occurred just months after the lighting system was installed, prior to which that part of the airport could not host night flights. Local media has claimed airport workers were responsible for the incident, which occurred while the runway was closed for maintenance to fit the lights.
While police will be hunting for those responsible, there is no guarantee that the stolen lights will be recovered in full working order, which could leave airport authorities putting in a rather big order for new lighting parts and equipment.
Other notorious light thefts include people stealing Christmas illuminations, such as an incident in 2021 when a family home’s Christmas light display was stolen, a crime caught on CCTV.
Your own lights probably won’t be as extensive as those of an airport runway or as seasonal as Christmas decorations. Still, if you suddenly find they are either no longer working or have vanished, you can contact us to get some replacements in fast.
